Rosé Stays, YG Entertainment Responds To BLACKPINK Contract Statement

The talk about BLACKPINK's exclusive contract continues. The latest news states that only one member renews the contract while the other three members choose to leave.

Rosé is reportedly the only BLACKPINK member to continue the contract. Meanwhile, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa chose the other agencies. The three are said to only participate with BLACKPINK for six months each year.

BLACKPINK's exclusive contract expired last month. At that time, YG Entertainment explained that the discussion process was still ongoing.

However, a month has passed, the agency has not given a notification. This rumor even had an impact on YG Entertainment's stock which declined today, Thursday, September 21.

The South Korean agency gave news that nothing can be confirmed at this time. They are still discussing the continuation of BLACKPINK.

"Currently, BLACKPINK's contract renewal has not been confirmed and is still being discussed," YG Entertainment said.

In this special contract, YG will require Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo to focus on doing BLACKPINK activities for 6 months a year. It is not explained further whether the 6 months include the process of working on albums, promotions, or concert activities.

Rumors circulated that members would participate in BLACKPINK activities for six months. It is not yet known whether the six months include tours or album releases or others, but this situation is considered similar to MAMAMOO.

BLACKPINK debuted with YG Entertainment in 2016 with two studio albums, two mini albums, and several singles. They last gathered for the BORN PINK world tour running for almost a year.

The last concert was held at Gocheok Sky Dome, South Korea for two days and sold out. Through the concert, BLACKPINK expressed its gratitude and promised to always be a BLACKPINK that fans know.

In addition to the group, members are also active with individual activities. Starting from solo to acting and fashion projects, Jennie, Rose, Lisa, and Jisoo are popular K-pop figures in their realm.
