JAKARTA - Attorney from Dito Mahendra, Yafet Rissy, responded to the inaugural trial of the alleged defamation case by Nikita Mirzani.

It was previously known that Dito Mahendra reported Nikita Mirzani who was suspected of defaming her by making photo posts of herself by calling Dito a fraud.

The alleged defamation case also underwent its first trial on Monday, November 14 yesterday with the agenda of reading the indictment by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

Unlike Nikita Mirzani and his attorney who considered that there was an uncertainty in the indictment alleged by the prosecutor, Yafet Rissy as Dito Mahendra's attorney, assessed that what was conveyed by the prosecutor in the indictment was correct.

"We view that the prosecutor has made a careful, thorough and easy-to-understand indictment. Review the chronology well, from the start of the posts to the articles charged," Yafet Rissy told the media crew on Thursday, November 18.

The lawyer also believes that the Public Prosecutor will easily prove the charges directed at Nikita Mirzani.

The material loss of Rp. 17.5 million experienced by Dito Mahendra Yafet Rissy also responded to the words of Nikita Mirzani's attorney, Fachmi Bahmid, who assessed the material loss of Rp. 17.5 million experienced by Dito Mahendra as one of the unclear points on the indictment.

Yafet considered that the existing law did not regulate the nominal amount of material losses experienced. As long as the reporter experiences losses, then this needs to be conveyed in the indictment.

Regarding what kind of loss, how much loss, how much minimum, how much maximum is not regulated. So the problem is not at a minimum or maximum, small or large the amount of loss, but the problem is that there are losses that have been suffered by the victim," said Yafet.

The lawyer also stated that it would be very easy to prove the losses charged.

Suspension of Nikita Mirzani's Detention In addition, Yafet Rissy also responded to the suspension of detention submitted by Nikita Mirzani to the panel of judges at yesterday's inaugural trial.

Although it is considered that the suspension of detention is a right for Nikita, Yafet thinks that the panel of judges should reject the request.

"The judge needs to carefully consider the application (suspension of detention) and reject the request for a suspension of detention," he said.

Yafet reasoned that Nikita Mirzani had a bad track record and was often uncooperative in undergoing the legal process. Moreover, he considered that Nikita was a recidivist.
