Inspiration Of Inang Film: From Pregnant Women At KRL Combined With Story Of Wednesday Wekasan

JAKARTA - Director Fajar Nugros revealed the initial idea of creating the film Inang, namely based on the experience of seeing pregnant women on the KRL Commuter Line along their journey from the BSD City area, Tangerang to Jakarta and vice versa.

"I like to see Ms. or pregnant women struggling. Sometimes I think this is where the man is going. How come he looks like he is tired," said Fajar, quoted from ANTARA, Thursday, October 6.

Fajar then linked what he saw with the question of how the big city treated these women whether they were already friendly to women. "And it develops into a story," he said of his first horror thriller film.

In Inang, it is described as one of the rituals in Java, namely Rebo Wekasan or the last Wednesday in Sapar on Hijri Economy. This is still related to the phenomenon of pregnant women that Fajar saw at KRL and then he added his experience as a Javanese who is thick with diving traditions.

"I've always been close to many during my time, I'm Javanese. A little bit late. It stuck until I grew up. When I saw the girls, I thought we weren't born on bad days for a long time so we survived," said Fajar.

For Fajar, Inang in this film is none other than a parent who wants to do what is best for loved ones like their parents.

"We don't know what they did, what the worst thing they did was so we could be in good health," he said.

On that occasion, Head of IDN Pictures & Producer of the film "Inang" Susanti Dewi said the film was centered on the struggle of the character Wulan (played by Naysila Mirdad) to survive in the harsh city of Jakarta. According to him, some people may be connected to the story and life experience of this Wulan figure.

The film "Inang" is scheduled to be screened in all cinemas in Indonesia on October 13, 2022. The film also stars Lydia Kandou, Dimas Anggara, Rukman Rosadi, Rania Putrisari, Totos Rasiti, Pritt Timothy, Emil Kusumo and others.
