Remembering Performing With Andrea Bocelli, Dira Sugandi: The Most Memorable Experience

JAKARTA - Singer Dira Sugandi or DIRA revealed the most memorable collaboration he's ever had in his career.

DIRA said that basically all collaborations with other musicians have their own impression. But for him, what he won't forget is the duet with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

"Because I never dreamed of collaborating with Andrea Bocelli. Because he's the best tenor in the world and he seems so far out of my reach, it's impossible," DIRA said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 24.

This experience was very memorable, because her mother always prayed that DIRA would one day collaborate with Bocelli.

Every time she sees Bocelli's appearance on television, her mother always expresses her desire to see DIRA sing together.

That hope arrived, DIRA received an offer to appear with Bocelli in a concert which took place on 15 May 2011 at The Ritz Carlton Ballroom Pacific Palace, Jakarta.

"Mama watched it too and I had to tell Andrea Bocelli about it, tell me what the background story was like, why am I grateful and grateful. Mom cried, I cried, everyone who watched and heard the story cried," said the singer of "One Love" that.

Meanwhile, DIRA admits that he enjoys collaborating with other musicians. He hopes to collaborate with many other musicians, especially those of different genres and singers across generations.

DIRA also hopes that the Indonesian music industry can be more cohesive between generations and genres. That way, the world of homeland music will be able to develop.

"Because we can have a strong force and a strong industry if we are really compact and solid, so mutual support between musicians and listeners also gives good feedback," said DIRA.
