JAKARTA - The profession as a photographer is indeed promising in the digital era. Photographers are busy being targeted by online shop business owners to make their sales more attractive in the eyes of consumers. Even celebrities often use the services of a photographer for personal purposes. For example, for pre-wedding, maternity, graduation, or just a light photoshoot to beautify social media feeds.

Is Winston Gomez, one of the many Indonesian photographers who are most sought after by celebrities because of his work. A number of artists such as Aurel Hermansyah, Prilly Latuconsina, and Luna Maya trusted Winston to capture their precious moments. The shots are sharp and feel alive, making Winston also flooded with jobs photographing famous brands' merchandise.

Met by the VOI team, some time ago in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta, Winston Gomez told the story of how he started his personal photo studio. Starting his career as a photographer in fashion magazines, Winston has the opportunity to build connections with the artists who are his photo models.

With the connections built, he began collaborating with artists, celebrities, influencers, and brands who have become his regular clients. The effort did not betray the results, in 2017 Winston finally succeeded in realizing his dream of owning his own photo studio. Apart from realizing dreams, opening a photo studio can also be a profitable business field according to Winston.

“The world of photography is very promising. Especially nowadays, everyone needs a proper photoshoot and video shoot, so the profession as a photographer is really promising,” said Winston in an interview.

When asked about the things that made him confident about starting his own business, he firmly answered that it was his confidence that made him confident to move forward.

"Support from my family, belief in taste that is different from others, then belief in the experience of working in a big fashion magazine made me confident to realize my dream since childhood," said Winston.

Accustomed to taking pictures of celebrities, of course, adds to Winston's experience of the artist who is the most fun to be photographed. Luna Maya, the name that impressed him the most when he was invited to work together.

“All celebrities are definitely impressive. But the most memorable is Luna Maya. She is perfect. She is gorgeous. He knows any poses without having to be directed, he can deliver the concept well," explained Winston.

Even though it looks like fun taking pictures of artists, there is no job that doesn't run into obstacles. One of the biggest challenges Winston often faces is adapting to the whims of his sometimes fickle clients.

"There are dramas that often appear, especially during pre-wedding photoshoots. Someone suddenly canceled the concept from outdoor to indoor. Even though we have prepared all the equipment. There are also those who have finished taking photos, but suddenly ask to change the background in the forest, in China. So the client's requests vary," he said.

Even so, Winston never bothered clients' requests. He is even more proud of his profession as a photographer. The support of people who are happy with their shrewdness in capturing the beauty of each photo object, makes Winston continue to be passionate about his work.

“Many DMs are very supportive, with the results of my work. There I became proud because I could please them. A little thing that they send via DM can make (my) day even more beautiful, so I'm excited to make better content and also positive comments," he said closing the interview session.
