JAKARTA – New York Indonesia Fashion Week will be held next week at the 48th Wall Street Events, New York, NY 10005. This fashion show collaborates with 10 Indonesian designers with 2nd segment brands.

This event is the 9th season of New York Indonesia fashion week, which was produced by Vanny Tousignant. According to the Director of Indonesia Fashion Week, Citra, who was contacted by VOI online, explained that this event presented fashion designers from Indonesia who raised Indonesian culture.

"The goal is for Indonesian products to be better known in the international arena. As a result, it can promote SMEs in Indonesia and create job opportunities,” explained Citra.

Interestingly, the beauty of Indonesian culture, flora, fauna and landscapes has inspired designers to design their works. The ten designers who have flown their works in the international fashion market include Septi Dwi Okana, Dian Narulita Hapsari, Dinda Damayanti, Milan Conny, Popong Sopia, Anitawati, Lisa Hariyanti, Tari Made, Livina Miwardi, and Merry Salmeri.

“So I made this event because I saw that there were brands that made fashion shows in New York but no publications and markets were formed here. Yes, I came home with nothing, my dear. With my experience in the art world, planned since 2018, this event can finally be held,” said Vanny Tousignant, who sponsors all events in New York for small business fashion designers and their communities in Indonesia.

Popong Sopia, will exhibit 12 pieces of clothing. This afternoon, in his preparation in New York, he explained about the theme that was carried out. Popong Sopia brings a touch of color, gestures, and peacock accents in her clothing, including those that will be exhibited on the catwalk in New York Indonesia Fashion Week.

This designer from Bandung highlighted the Batik Merak Ngibing. He will exhibit two clothing segments, namely ready to wear and art couture. The Ngibing peacock is taken from the Sundanese language which means 'dancing peacock'. In a performance in New York next week, he will showcase his work with peacock-inspired accessories. Regarding the size and complexity of the fashion design he has prepared well.

The name New York Indonesia Fashion Week was chosen not without reason. Departing from the thought and unanimous intention to open an international market, the name was chosen. Facilities for designers are also provided, such as a halfway house where designers can put all their designs in the storefront free of charge.

"In the future, we hope to open up international markets not only to empower Indonesians in New York, but also to open the possibility for designers from other countries to join," said Citra, complementing Vanny's explanation of New York Indonesia Fashion Week which will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022. .
