JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) predicts that the peak backflow of the Christmas and New Year holidays at 37 airports it manages will occur on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

"The prediction may be on January 4, 2025, and I think we will anticipate it well," said InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi in Tangerang, quoted by Antara, Monday, December 30.

He said the cumulative number of passenger movements after Christmas 2024 at 37 airports had penetrated 6 million people, an increase of about 10 percent from the projected 9.3 million people.

The realization of this figure has increased when compared to the transportation for the same period in 2023/2024 with 8.71 million.

"Nationally until the 12th day of Christmas and the new year which will end on January 5, 2025. But to this day there are around 6 million passengers that we managed to manage well at all our airports at 37 airports," he said.

"This means that the number of traffic we serve is 10 percent higher than last year, but this is still moving because we are targeting the 19 days of the Christmas and New Year periods to be 9.3 million," he added.

He revealed, from the achievement of the passenger movement of 6 million people, around 1,200 extra flights have been realized during the end of this year's holiday period.

"About 1,200 extra flights have been realized, but later there will be extra flights for the backflow," he said.

Fahmi added, in anticipation of a surge in passenger movements during the Christmas and New Year periods, the operation plan has been prepared at all Indonesian AP airports to ensure the smooth operation of airports, flight operations and services to airplane passengers.

"Yesterday, when the highest departure flow was on December 22, Soetta Airport only reached 190 thousand, the highest number. So we estimate that it will also be at the same level," he said.
