These Two New Regions Are Reviewed For The Indonesian Export Center

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) is reviewing two new areas outside Java as Indonesian export centers.

Director General of National Export Development (PEN) of the Ministry of Trade Mardiana Listyowati said that currently her party is reviewing which areas are appropriate to be used as centers for export development, especially for micro, small and medium enterprises.

"We are currently conducting a study, which is more appropriate and more visible in the future, so that it can indeed approach business actors to provide the facilities we can provide to encourage exports," said Mardiana quoting Antara.

Mardiana said the two new regions included in this study were Kalimantan and Sumatra. According to him, the two regions also have many MSME manufacturers and centers.

However, a study related to this export center, can only be completed in early 2025.

"Because there are no currently in Surabaya and Makassar, Kalimantan and Sumatra. Well, hopefully with the opening there, we can focus more," he said.

The Ministry of Trade has three priority programs, namely domestic market security, expansion of the export market and increasing MSMEs that can be exported.

In the program to increase MSMEs can be exported, there are five targets, namely the development of an export SME ecosystem, the establishment of two new export centers outside Java, the printing of 100 SMEs for export results from the SME Bisa program (dare to innovate, ready to adapt) Exports, the achievement of 600 SMEs that received export training during the period 21 October-31 December 2024, and optimizing the role of trade representatives in the promotion of SME exports.
