Wamenkop Calls Cooperative Driven To Have A Processing Factory

Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said that future cooperatives will be encouraged to have their own processing factory in order to enter the industrial sector as well as the success of the rebranding program for the younger generation.

"Cooperation is indeed not rebranded, of course, in that case we must be able to socialize to the younger generation, but it will be effective if cooperatives can also be encouraged as business entities entering the industrial sector, have their own processing," said Ferry in Bandung, quoted from Antara, Monday 9 December.

This, said Ferry, is to anticipate the presence of cooperative products that are not absorbed, causing losses such as the incident in Boyolali, Central Java, where milk produced by farmers there is not absorbed by the dairy processing industry.

"We ask that now is the time for cooperatives to have their own dairy processing factory, this is an example of the Ministry of Cooperatives encouraging cooperatives to enter the industrial sector, if that happens among the younger generation you don't have to use influencers, it will definitely make cooperatives when entering the industry an option and alternative activity," he said.

For the development of cooperatives as well, said Ferry, the government will form a work unit that can review and evaluate imports, especially foods that have a big impact on the community.

"This includes milk and others. Because if you look at the imports carried out by us, they are now relatively large and carry out what the President wants regarding self-sufficiency, that means we have to reduce imports and boost production to meet domestic needs," he said.

On the other hand, regarding the discourse on increasing Value Added Tax (VAT) by 12 percent, Ferry said that his party suggested that it should not be determined at this time considering the unstable economy.

"We propose not to be determined now, it should be postponed first, find other sources who may have a source of state revenue," he said.
