JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) encourages the role of MSMEs to be included in the ecosystem of the wastra and craft sectors in Indonesia, one of which is through the Nusantara Story program which was held with the National Art Crafts Council (Dekranas) and OASE.
Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki said the Nusantara Story Program could bring together MSMEs with aggregators in the wastra and craft sectors. That way, the Wastra and Craft business ecosystem can be formed bigger and more sustainable.
"In our economic structure dominated by MSMEs, the role of aggregator is important and in this Nusantara Story, we present aggregators who have actually maintained the existence and sustainability of the wastra and craft business in Indonesia," said Minister Teten at the Kemenkop UKM Building, Jakarta, quoted Friday, November 24.
Teten explained that currently wastra and craft are considered to be part of a rapidly growing lifestyle. According to him, quick steps need to be taken to move the industry through the role of MSMEs.
"From here, later we can see its history, how each ecosystem empowers the business of being worthless to become valuable. This is what we want to present," he said.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Coordinating Ministry for SMEs, Siti Azizah, said that the potential for wastra and craft transactions in the Nusantara Story event could reach Rp. 60 billion. This potential comes from business matching between MSME players in the field of wastra and craft with investors.
"Meanwhile, there are actually some potentials. There are also Brolex and several other entrepreneurs, the potential is approximately Rp. 60 billion. Hopefully, everything can become a reality," he said.
