JAKARTA - As an effort to realize the archipelago as the capital city with the concept of a smart city that prioritizes digital technology, the Capital Archipelago Authority (OIKN) officially cooperates with Microsoft. This collaboration was confirmed in San Francisco on Tuesday, November 14.

OIKN Chief Bambang Susantono hopes that by cooperating with Microsoft and other technology giants, he will soon be able to make IKN a smart city that is able to answer the needs of digital technology in various aspects of life.

"One example is that E-government in the IKN government must be able to run effectively through a digital system so that it can improve the efficiency and quality of life of its citizens," said Bambang in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, November 16.

Bambang said, not only with Microsoft, there are also a number of other technology providers who have signed cooperation with IKN Nusantara. Previously, cooperation had also been signed with Cisco, ESRI and Autodesk.

"Cooperation with digital technology providers is in line with the desire to make the archipelago one of the centers of Indonesia's economic growth. This transformation is one of our goals," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Regional Vice President & Chief Legal Counsel Asia Corporate External & Legal Affairs Mike Yeh emphasized that his party is ready to support the preparation and digital planning carried out in the archipelago.

According to Mike, with the application of digital technology, IKN can become an integrated area in the future.

Microsoft's role in IKN includes the support of new and renewable energy technology, as well as the electric vehicle system and autonomous vehicles. Meanwhile, in terms of inclusiveness, Microsoft is interested in developing digital literacy in the form of training.

In the future, Microsoft will learn more about what can be applied in the archipelago.
