PT PLN Nusantara Power (PLN NP) will trade 1 million tons of CO2 in its first listing on the Indonesian Carbon Exchange (IDX Carbon). The initial trade is planned to be carried out on October 23.
Ruly Firmansyah, President Director of PLN NP said that as part of the PLN Group, PLN NP will continue to support the energy transition by playing an active role in preventing emissions in the carbon trading exchange to achieve Net Zero Emission.
"Almost 1 million tons of CO2 will be traded and PLN NP is ready to become the largest trader on the carbon exchange," Ruly said in a statement to the media, Friday, October 20.
He said that the achievement of reducing GRK emissions from PLTGU Block 3 had been verified and validated by the Affected and KLHK Institute. PLN NP through the Steam Gas Plant (PLTGU) Block 3 Muara Karang which has obtained the first Emission Reduction Certificate (SPE) in Indonesia and became the first gas-fuel generating unit in Indonesia to enter the carbon exchange.
"This is the fruit of hard work, smart work, and innovation of all of our employees at the Muara Karang PLTGU so that they are the first in Indonesia to receive SPE from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK)," added Ruly.
Ruly Firmansyah mengatakan bahwa PLTGU Blok 3 Muara Karang telah menggunakan 100 persen bahan bakar gas yang telah diregasifikasi dari LNG pada Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) dengan menggunakan pasokan LNG. PLTGU ini juga menggunakan teknologi gas turbine Combined Cycle terbaru dengan efeksi kinerja mencapai 60,7 persen.
