JAKARTA - The world oil price, which has recently skyrocketed, has made the government anxious.

The reason is, many non-subsidized fuel users are feared to migrate from Pertamax to Pertalite.

The existence of price disparities between the two is a driving force for the community to switch to subsidized fuel.

The Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said that his party was making anticipatory efforts so that this would not happen.

"First, we must continue to state that subsidized fuel is for people who need it, we urge that pertalite is for people who need it and are eligible," said Tutuka, Tuesday, October 17.

For this reason, he asked people who can afford it and so far have used non-subsidized fuel so as not to switch and use fuel such as Pertalite.

Tutuka continued, his party was also keen to push for a revision of Presidential Regulation number 191 concerning Provision, Distribution, and Retail Selling Prices for fuel oil so that the fuel distributed was right on target.

"We also encourage the continued revision of Presidential Regulation 191 so that it can be carried out and this will make conditions that are more targeted for subsidized bbm," continued Tutuka.

Previously, Tutuka said, there was a possibility that Pertamax users switched to using Pertalite but not much.

With the possibility of user migration, it is feared that Pertalite consumption will increase from its usual consumption.

Just so you know, PT Pertamina (Persero) adjusted the price of non-subsidized fuel oil (BBM) as of October 1, 2023.

There has been an increase in prices for fuel sold at Pertamina gas stations such as Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, Pertamina Dex, and Pertamax Green 95.

For example, the price of Pertamax fuel has officially increased to Rp. 14,000 per liter from the September period which was sold for Rp. 13,300 per liter for the DKI Jakarta area.

Meanwhile, Pertamax Green 95 rose from IDR 15,000 per liter to IDR 16,000 per liter.
