JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) encourages food seasoning industry players to expand and market their products in the global market.

One of the efforts made by the Ministry of Industry is to facilitate the participation of food industry players at the 2023 Food Ingruents Asia (FIA) international exhibition which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 20-22, 2023.

"Indonesia's food and beverage industry is one of the sectors that has the potential to become a key player in the global supply chain," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a written statement, quoted Monday, October 9.

It is known that the FIA 2023 is Asia's largest food ingredient exhibition that provides an opportunity for industry players to showcase their product advantages.

The exhibition also acts as a liaison for professionals or players in the food and beverage industry in Asia.

"FIA 2023 is expected to be able to become a catalyst for the growth and development of the food and beverage raw material industry in the Asian region," said Agus.

Agus said the food industry has an important role in the Indonesian economy as shown by a contribution of 39.17 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the non-oil and gas processing industry in the second quarter of 2023.

In addition, in 2022, the export of the food and beverage industry has reached US$48.6 billion.

Therefore, Agus assessed, steps to increase the value of national exports need to be encouraged to strengthen foreign exchange and strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the global players in the industry.

"The participation of the Ministry of Industry in the 2023 FIA is realized in the form of a country pavilion, in collaboration with the Dutch CBI and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, as well as presenting seven companies from various regions," he said.

The seven companies, namely PT Agar Swallow, PT Algalindo Perdana, PT Hakiki Donarta, PT Indo Aneka Atsiri, PT Lautan Natural Crimerindo, PT Galic Bina Mada, and PT Cahaya Cemerlang.

There are several products displayed, including processed flour, seaweed flour, conjac, refined carragenyan, bleached chamberenan, extract, atsiri oil, chemical aroma, and non-dairy creamer.

At the 2023 FIA in Bangkok, the Indonesian Pavilion managed to collect 416 business contacts and recorded potential transactions of 1 million US dollars.
