JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir ensured that the food SOEs of Perum Bulog and ID FOOD were ready to optimize the second phase of the food assistance program.

"Alhamdulillah, the food assistance program for 21.3 million underprivileged families has begun to be distributed by SOEs today," Erick said as quoted by Antara, Monday.

Erick said SOEs must be able to maintain the trust of the government and the President to be present in helping the community. SOEs have a big role not only as development agents, but also in social aspects such as carrying out assignments to help the community through food assistance programs.

"I have asked SOEs to ensure that the distribution can run smoothly and is really on target," he said.

For this reason, continued Erick, Bulog will be assisted by PT Pos Indonesia in distributing rice aid.

With a wide reach, Pos Indonesia has the ability to distribute aid throughout the country.

"God willing, SOEs will continue to synergize with each other, such as Bulog and Pos Indonesia, which starting today distributes 34 provinces of rice aid in Indonesia," he said.

Erick said President Jokowi had ensured that the rice stock in Bulog's warehouse of 1.5 million tons was still sufficient to meet the needs of the community.

The food assistance program of 10 kg per beneficiary family (KPM) for the next three months is a form of SOE's commitment to meeting the needs of the community.

"Hopefully this effort can help our community who today need rice assistance, SOEs will continue to collaborate with many parties, including the National Food Agency to other ministries and institutions to ensure that the distribution of aid can run optimally," said Erick.
