Pelindo Calls The Placement Of Traders At Yos Sudarso Port Undian

AMBON - Operation Support Manager of PT Pelindo IV Ambon Branch Wahyudi said the placement of 36 hawkers to kiosks prepared by the company was in the Yos Sudarso Ambon Port area, Maluku Province, in a draw.

"36 of these hawkers have been handled since a few years ago but currently there are new traders entering the port area and trying to get on the Pelni ship to sell so that the security forces carry out control," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, September 11.

He explained, to accommodate an additional 60 hawkers, coordination is needed with the Central Pelindo Office or regional in Makassar (Sulsel).

"We are only at the branch office and all progress is in the regional office, and indeed for now there are still improvements," he said.

He said Yos Sudarso Ambon Port had entered class I, or the same as Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta, Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya (East Java), or a sea port in Makassar (Sulsel), so it had to be sterile from traders or people who could not roam freely.

Assistant Operations of PT Pelindo IV Ambon Branch Andy Lawangsi said the provision of 36 stalls from the start was accompanied by electricity for the occupying traders.

However, until now only a few traders have been able to pay off electricity service payments to Pelindo for IDR 300,000 every month.

"Only a small part of it pays its electricity costs per month and more than 50 percent are still in arrears between three and four years," he said.

Although many traders are in arrears in electricity payments, Pelindo has yet to take steps to impose strict sanctions on them.

Regarding the identity card of the buyer, it is necessary to discuss further because there is cooperation between Pelindo, Pelni, and the Harbormaster Office and the Port Authority (KSOP), so that people are not free to enter outside the port area.

In the port area, only certain people can move. Passengers who already have tickets as parties can be allowed to enter and board the Pelni ship.

"That's why Pelindo prepared a special space for street vendors, in this case they were previously hawkers, and for the additional 60 new hawkers, if accommodated, they will be given alternate time to sell in stalls," he said.
