Bank Indonesia Survey Finds Consumer Optimism To Increase In August 2023

JAKARTA Bank Indonesia (BI) reports that based on a consumer survey held in August 2023, it was found that there were indications of an increase in consumer confidence.

Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono said this was reflected in the August 2023 Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) which was at the level of 125.2.

According to Erwin, the number recorded was higher than the previous month, which was 123.5 in July 2023.

"Consumer confidence in economic conditions is improving," he said in a written statement today, Friday, September 8.

Erwin explained that the increase in consumer confidence last month was also supported by the strong current Economic Condition Index (IKE) and the Consumer Expectation Index (IEK).

He said, IKE was recorded to increase in all components of its formation, especially in the Old Goods Purchase Index.

"IEK is also recorded to increase, especially in the Expenditure Index for Business Activities and the Employment Availability Expectation Index," he said.
