Instead Of Giving Pertamax Subsidies, The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Encourages Environmentally Friendly Fuel

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif opened his voice about the results of a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo at the State Palace on Monday, August 29.

Arifin said the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would continue to encourage the use of environmentally friendly fuel oil (BBM) to overcome pollution problems from the transportation sector.

"We are conducting an in-depth investigation to immediately take steps to provide environmentally friendly fuel, which also refers to experiences elsewhere," Arifin told the media quoted on Tuesday, August 29.

According to him, the use of fuel with a high octane value can also be a solution to overcome pollution in DKI Jakarta.

He explained that in the exhaust gas, there are pollutants that cause pollution and must be reduced immediately.

"One of them is (the use of high octane fuel). CO2 is the same as the hydrocarbon used for it. But what is used to reduce monoxide, then sulfate or lead if there is one, it must be done by improving the production of fuel," said Arifin.

Furthermore, Arifin said, if his party had identified pollutant sub-sources and there was a cause, namely the transportation, industrial and energy sectors.

For transportation, he admitted that his party had coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation.

Meanwhile, the industrial sector has also coordinated with the Ministry of Industry.

"In our own field, namely energy, whether emissions from power plants (electricity)," said Arifin.

He said that if the demand for world emission reduction was very massive, it would be carried out.

Referring to BMKG data, said Arifin, the increase in world temperature after the pre-industrial period is no longer 1.5 degrees Celsius, but can double.

"Well, this is dangerous. That's why we have to identify it," concluded Arifin.
