JAKARTA - President Director of PT Inalum Danny Praditya conveyed a number of steps by the company in increasing exploration and production growth aggressively this year. It is not half-hearted that he targets the Inalum smelter to produce 300,000 tons of aluminum by 2024.

Danny said that the company would carry out a number of activities, namely first by carrying out a pod upgrade or pod optimization.

He explained that the POD upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of this year. "All pots will be started up and contractually until August 2024. God willing, it will be completed and will increase the production capacity of aluminum from 250 thousand to an additional 25 thousand," he said at a Hearing Meeting with Commission VII DPR RI, Thursday, August 24.

Likewise with pot optimization, he said, it is hoped that it will increase its capacity to 25,000 so that in total the existing Inalum smelter in Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatra can produce 300.00 tons of aluminum.

Then the second strategy that the company will do is expand the aluminum brownfield smelter with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year.

"For information, in Indonesia, the total need is both primary and secondary for aluminum, domestic demand is 1.2 million to per year," he said.

Meanwhile, Danny explained that until now Inalum is still the only aluminum producer in Indonesia with a capacity of 250 thousand and will only be upgraded to 300,000.

"So that two strategic initiatives in the form of brownfield expansion and aluminium smelter greenfield are critical so that we can self-awasabada aluminum in order to fulfill the ferocity of strategic aluminum in the domestic area," Danny concluded.
