BALI - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) targets seven domestic companies to win the title of Lighthouse Industry 4.0, both international and national titles by 2024.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said his party would provide support in the form of education, as well as coaching for industry entrepreneurs to encourage the level of technology adoption.

Thus, more and more industries have increased their status, to get the title of Indonesia National Lighthouse Industry 4.0 or even the Global Lighthouse Network World Economic Forum (WEF).

"I am targeting at least in 2024, there are two additional companies that have obtained Global Lighthouse status from WEF and five additional companies that have obtained a National Lighthouse Industry 4.0," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, August 24.

Minister of Industry Agus assessed that the increase in the number of industrial companies implementing Industry 4.0 technology will be able to see Indonesia's readiness to answer current manufacturing challenges.

Even so, he said there are still many challenges in implementing industry 4.0, including the low level of technology adoption, slow digital transformation, and supporting infrastructure that have not been optimal, both within the government, business actors, and the community.

Therefore, Agus assessed that Indonesia could not become a technology-based country.

"This is shown by Indonesia's ranking at the 2022 IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking (WDCR) which is ranked 51 out of 63 countries. This means that Indonesia has not become a technology-driven country," he said.

To be able to overcome this challenge, Agus asked for the support of all stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of this 4.0 industry with synergy and collaboration as the main key.

The collaborations in question are between the government, industry players, academics and R&D, technical providers, consultants, and financial actors.

In line with this, the Ministry of Industry organizes Indonesia 4.0 Conference and Expo 2023. This activity aims to build an appropriate synergy forum, especially to share issues and update information about the development of digital technology in the manufacturing industry.

"In the forum, the selected company in the 4.0 industrial lighthouse program shared the experience of industrial transformation and implementation 4.0 as well as its positive impact on financial, operational, and technological aspects," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi, said that the holding of Indonesia 4.0 Conference and Expo 2023 was the fifth edition and became a place to build synergy and collaboration between parties in the industrial ecosystem 4.0 in Indonesia. The goal is to accelerate industrial transformation 4.0.

Doddy said the theme carried out at the event was Digital Transformation for Sustainability, Indonesia 4.0 Conference & Expo 2023.

Digital transformation in the manufacturing sector will also support the sustainability aspect in the manufacturing sector in terms of efficiency in the use of energy and resource consumption, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and the use of raw materials or materials.

"Indonesia 4.0 Conference and Expo 2023 is the fifth edition and is a place to build synergy and collaboration between parties in the industrial ecosystem 4.0 in Indonesia to accelerate the industrial transformation process 4.0," he added.
