BRI Asks Customers To Activate NIK To Become NPWP Before December 31, 2023. Here's How

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk appealed to all its customers to immediately activate the Population Identification Number (NIK) to become a Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) before December 31, 2023.

BRI Corporate Secretary, Agustya Hendy Bernadi said, BRI still allows NPWP (15-digit) to be used for banking facilities until December 31, 2023.

"The validation process with valid data status to ensure that 16-digit NIK can be used as NPWP is the responsibility of each Individual Taxpayer who is a Resident," Agustya said in a written statement, Monday, August 7.

He added, if the customer has not activated the NIK to become an NPWP on the set date, it will be considered that he does not have an NPWP which could risk an increase in tariffs in income tax cuts.

"Bank BRI hopes that customers will immediately validate personal data responsibly," continued AGustya.

Agustya emphasized that customers are fully responsible for the truth and validity of the data provided.

"Banks have no obligation to validate the correctness of the data or information submitted by customers to the Bank," he concluded.

Just so you know, taxpayers need to validate data on the Population Identification Number (NIK) to be the Main Taxpayer Number (NPWP). This is based on the Regulation of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Number 112/PMK.03/2022 concerning Taxpayer Identification Numbers (NPWP) for Private Taxpayers, Body Taxpayers, and Government Institutional Taxpayers.

There are several things that customers need to pay attention to in activation or matching ID cards as NPWP.

First, the activation of NIK to NPWP is carried out independently through the official website of the Director General of Taxes and ends on December 31, 2023.

The details of how to activate NIK into NPWP are as follows:

1. Masuk ke situs https://pajak.go.id dan pilih menu ‘‘Login’’ kemudian masukkan NPWP serta password yang dimilki dan juga kode keamanan sesuai dengan yang diminta, lalu klik ’’Login’’

2. After successfully logging in, select the Profile menu and change data, including NIK and other data according to the current conditions. Click 'Change Profile' every time you finish filling in the data

3. Perform the validation of the NIK according to the electronic ID card by clicking "Check"

4. If after checking the NIK is valid and in accordance with the listed name, then the validity status changes to Valid

5. Last step, click 'Change Profile' and follow further instructions

Customers are advised to download and store their NPWP electronic cards before January 1, 2024.
