MSMEs Have More Opportunity To Advance To Class Through Digital Transactions

JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office of DKI Jakarta Province continues to encourage economic digitization efforts in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) activities.

According to the Head of Implementation of the Jakarta Payment System (BI) Policy Hery Afrianto, this strategy is very useful for increasing the business size of business actors to the next level.

"We really appreciate all parties involved in good initiatives to always support the acceleration of digitization and development of MSME products," he said in a written statement quoted on Thursday, July 27.

Hery explained that the central bank now has a Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) facility which is a large channel for MSME retail financial transactions.

"We hope that steps to support MSMEs through empowering the real sector can improve people's welfare and accelerate national economic recovery," he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government MSMEs Service, Ratu Rante Allo, stated that digitizing MSMEs was the first step to lead Indonesian businessmen to compete in the global market. Ratu said, through digitizing MSMEs, they were able to expand market reach and build partnerships anywhere.

Not only that, digitization of MSMEs also helps in orderly data collection so that they can determine effective steps for future strategic development. We hope that the synergy of various parties can further change the mindset for the better," he said.

Similarly, the digital transaction service provider company, PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia, is committed to massively assisting the digitization of MSMEs.

MSMEs are vital units in Indonesia's economic growth. For this important role, the business development of this sector must always be directed by relevant stakeholders. In this case, we are committed to realizing MSMEs to advance through digitalization," said Netzme CEO Vicky Ganda Saputra.

Citing data from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, it is stated that as of December 2022, 20.76 million MSMEs have been onboarded digitally. Meanwhile, in 2023, it is targeted that the addition of 4 million MSMEs and 2024 as many as 30 million MSMEs can be onboarded digitally.
