The SIG Business Unit Supply 2,630 Tetrapod-Type Breakwater Units in Raja Ampat

JAKARTA - PT Varia Usaha Beton (VUB) as a business unit of the State-Owned Company (BUMN) Semen Indonesia Group (SIG) supplied 2,630 units of tetrapod-type breakwaters on Fani Island, Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua in July 2023.

This project is an effort to preserve the Raja Ampat tourist area which has been designated as a priority tourist destination by the government. The tetrapods weighing 1.2 tons per unit are produced at the VUB Gresik Precast Concrete Plant, East Java.

"The tetrapod made by VUB on Fani Island is used to break up the waves of seawater so as not to damage the beauty and beauty of the beach, as well as protect it from the threat of abrasion. The existence of Fani Island, which is the outermost island located in the Pacific Ocean, makes it have considerable potential for abrasion," said Corporate Secretary of SIG Vita Mahreyni in an official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday 20 July.

Furthermore, the tetrapod product from VUB has proven to be superior in quality because it is produced with the basic ingredients DuPro+, a SIG product that produces concrete with low hydration heat and optimal resistance to sulfates and chlorides. Another advantage is the accuracy in the amount and time of production, as well as the delivery process

VUB's tetrapod breakwaters are also said to have been supplied to a number of strategic projects, including the Bogowonto Watershed (DAS) of 586 tetrapods weighing 1.8 tons per unit, Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang totaling 1,000 units weighing 1 ton, and the area Tanah Lot tourism in Bali with the type of tetrapod which is supplied weighing 10 tons per unit.

According to Vita, contributions to various development projects show high public trust in VUB's products.
