Coordinating Minister Airlangga Targets The Number Of Entrepreneurs To Reach 5 Percent Of The Total Population Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto targets the number of entrepreneurs to increase to five percent of the total population in order to maximize the demographic bonus.

"However, in addition, we want to encourage our entrepreneurs to grow. We are a country that wants to become a developed country, but the number of our entrepreneurs is only 3 percent, we have to increase it to five percent," he said at the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit (INZS) 2023 held by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, June 24.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga assessed that with a demographic bonus, the government and the community should not waste this crucial momentum.

He is targeting Indonesia's human resources in the future who must be healthy, educated and have innovations to support the 2060 Golden Indonesia Vision.

Not only highlighting the importance of human resources, but the sustainability sector is also an important aspect.

He explained that as a maritime and agrarian country, the government together with the community should be able to manage the blue economy and the green economy properly.

"Next, of course, we are talking about sustainability, meaning we are a maritime country, we must control blue economy, a blue economy. We are also a country that encourages sustainability, of course we will encourage green economy. So, Indonesia has committed 2060 net zero emissions, and in the next 10 years we will develop green-based energy," he said.

Then, as a follow-up to the target, the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) energy transition funding agreement has been agreed during the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022.

JETP has formed a work team secretariat that is ready to work to realize energy transition funding cooperation so that it is ready to disburse 20 billion US dollars.

Meanwhile, in terms of implementation, Coordinating Minister Airlangga said that the development of hydropower is currently underway.

Airlangga is also optimistic that he will be able to achieve the target that has been determined considering that Indonesia's economic growth throughout 2022 of 5.3 percent is one of the quite good economic growth achievements among other G20 countries.
