JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with Chairman of the Chinese Industry and Trade Federation Gao Yunlong to discuss economic cooperation, at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economics, Jakarta.

In discussing the business climate and ease of doing business with Gao Yunlong who is also the chairman of The 14th National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Coordinating Minister Airlangga conveyed several policy focuses made by the Indonesian government to accelerate economic and bureaucratic transformation.

The first policy focus is increasing the rules and business procedures through the Job Creation Act. This law provides legal certainty and convenience related to the requirements and business licensing process," Airlangga said in an official statement regarding the meeting, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 22.

The Indonesian government is also continuing its economic transformation program, through the downstream policy of natural resources (SDA), energy transition, human resource development (Pre-Work Card), and infrastructure development including the capital city of Nusantara (IKN).

Chinese companies have participated a lot in encouraging Indonesia's economic transformation, one of which is in the mineral downstream program, especially nickel, where many Chinese companies invest in this sector.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga also encouraged the greater role of Chinese companies in other economic transformation sectors, especially in energy transition programs, including the development of electric vehicles.

"In addition to the electric vehicle sector, Chinese companies can also participate in other energy transition programs, including the gradual termination of steam power plants, accelerating the development of renewable energy for solar, wind and water power plants," he said.

According to him, Indonesia is interested in China's efforts to also develop hydrogen-based vehicles and ask for support so that Chinese entrepreneurs can invest in Indonesia, one of which is in the Gresik Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in East Java.

SEZ Gresik provides fiscal and non-fiscal incentive facilities such as tax holidays of up to 20 years, ease of licensing, customs incentives, ease of immigration, and land use incentives.

Several Chinese businessmen also attended and expressed interest in investing in Indonesia, including representatives of Tianjin RockCheck Investment Holding Group, Chint Group, Spring Airlines, Guangdong Evergreen Conglomerate Co. Ltd., and Yili Group.
