BI: Optimistic Consumers Increase In A Better Economic Perception Topolang

JAKARTA The monetary authority of Bank Indonesia (BI) stated that the results of a consumer survey conducted in May 2023 indicated that consumer confidence in economic conditions had increased compared to the previous month.

Head of the BI Communication Department Erwin Haryono said this was reflected in the May 2023 Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) of 128.3.

"This figure is higher than April 2023 which amounted to 126.1," he said in a press release today, Monday, June 12.

According to Erwin, the strengthening of consumer confidence in May 2023 was driven by the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE) and the Rising Consumer Expectation Index (IEK).

"IKE is recorded to increase in all components of its formation," said Erwin.

Then, he also revealed that the main increase occurred in the Employment Availability Index and the Old Goods Purchase Index.

"IEK is also recorded to have increased, especially in the Business Activity Expectation Index," he concluded.
