JAKARTA - Indonesia confirms its commitment to achieving the target of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions towards Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060. To support this, the Indonesia Carbon Capture and Storage Center (ICCSC) will organize a Forum entitled International and Indonesia CCS Forum 2023 at Hotel Mulia Jakarta, 11-12 September 2023.

This event consisted of Forum and Exhibition activities, with the theme 'Pioneering The Energy Landscape Decarbonization Future: Harnessing The Power of CCS Globally for A Cleaner Future and Economic Growth'.

Chairperson of the International and Indonesia CCS Forum Merry Marteighianti said the implementation of this forum would be a great platform and moment to bring together government agencies, investors, CCS industry players, academics, and industry experts to come together, and share expertise and experience.

"ICCSC's commitment to the future of energy decarbonization is based on the belief that environmental protection and economic growth need not conflict," said Merry at the 2023 International and Indonesia CCS Forum Launching event in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 30.

"On the contrary, we believe that the harmony between a clean environment and sustainable economic growth can become a reality," he added.

Merry added, by leveraging the power of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Indonesia will be able to create a cleaner future and support sustainable economic growth.

"Therefore, the International & Indonesia CCS Forum event can be used as a momentum for CCS in Indonesia to play a role as a sustainable economic development agenda," he said.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of ICCSC Belladonna Troxylon Maulianda said, with so many challenges, ICCSC's role is to be a pioneer in widely implementing CCS technology, with the vision of continuing to voice and encourage the acceleration of CCS development and technology in Indonesia, and to make Indonesia a CCS Hub in the Regional.

"The ICCSC's commitment to the future of energy decarbonization is based on the belief that environmental protection and economic growth need not conflict. On the contrary, we believe harmony between a clean environment and sustainable economic growth can become a reality," he concluded.
