JAKARTA - Expert Staff of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Electricity, Sripeni Inten Cahyani, revealed that as of May 15, 2023, 193 people had registered for the conversion program to electric motors.
"As of May 15, 193 have registered, we are indeed processing it," said Sripeni in a discussion on FMB9ID quoted on Tuesday, May 30.
He explained that his party would start processing the conversion after collecting registrants.
Later, said Sripeni, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will map the conversion by motorbike unit to determine the battery to be used.
"The type of motorbike is different and requires different brackets. So how many types of this will be mapped later so that everything (conversion) will be ready," explained Sripeni.
He explained that currently the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has also provided a digital platform that will make it easier for the public to register for a conversion program, namely through ebtke.esdm.go.id/conversion or visit a conversion motor repair shop.
Sripeni emphasized that later the motorbikes that were allowed to take part in the conversion program were motorbikes that had passed the physical check of vehicles on Samsat.
"So for conversions, you can google and appear and there will be a page. Currently, consumers can go directly and there are workshops, there is a list of workshops and locations where you just click," he explained.

He said the reason motorcycles had to pass the test at Samsat was because of concerns that this program would be used for bleaching stolen vehicles.
With tight supervision from Samsat, stolen motorbikes cannot participate in this program.
"To Samsat first to declare that the motorbike is true, the frame number is right, not stolen," he said.
