Sri Mulyani Meets Again US Officials, Signal Back To America After Cabinet?

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani is said to have just met with the United States (US) Ambassador to Indonesia Ted Osius in Jakarta regarding talks about economic issues.

Sri Mulyani revealed that the meeting was held to strengthen the cooperation of both parties in the US-ASEAN Business Council.

According to him, America has a strategic role for Indonesia. This is because the superpower is a contributor to 22 percent of the total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021.

"I listen to their aspirations. I also get various inputs, ranging from tax policies, digital transactions, industrial developments, to their investment in the renewable energy, health and education sector," he said as reported by the official website today, Thursday, May 25.

The Minister of Finance explained that several focuses of the Indonesian Presidency on the G20 last year and the chairmanship of Indonesia in ASEAN this year were also discussed at the meeting, ranging from a fair international tax system to Low Carbon & Climate Resilience (LCCR) and climate finance in Indonesia.

At the meeting, all delegates stated that Indonesia is a prospective and promising country in the future.

"This collaboration with the US ASEAN Business Council is a form of good cooperation opportunities and we must take care of it, in order to get to an Advanced Indonesia 2045," he said.

VOI noted that Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani has her own close relationship with American officials.

Previously, the state treasurer was known to have held a bilateral meeting with US Minister of Finance Janet Yellen on the sidelines of Japan's G7 agenda in the middle of this month.

Meanwhile, Sri Mulyani was recorded as a boss in the international financial organization IMF and World Bank after carrying out her duties as Minister of Finance in the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration.

He also managed to get a higher education degree from Uncle Sam's country. So, is this the code sent by Sri Mulyani to return to America after President Jokowi's Cabinet in 2024?
