JAKARTA - As an effort to support the growth of the national fisheries industry through energy supply in the Central Sulawesi region, the Pertamina Gas Subholding affiliate, namely PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has again built cooperation with PT Matra Arona Manggai.

This collaboration was confirmed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Joint Study on the Provision of Supply & Earth Gas-Based Energy Infrastructure for Fishery Industry Needs.

The signing was carried out by Gamal Imam Santoso, President Director of Pertagas, Nefo Ng President Director of PT Matra Arona Banggai, Sutomo President Director of PT Suria Lintas Gemilang and President Director of PT Power Perdana Nusantara, Deni Budi Kurniantodi at Grha Pertamina Jakarta, Tuesday, May 23.

In his remarks, the President Director of Pertagas, Gamal Imam Santoso conveyed Pertagas' readiness to support the provision of gas infrastructure to meet these needs.

"This gas supply supply effort is in line with Pertagas' expectations in maintaining the sustainability & increase in shrimp pond production from PT Matra Arona Banggai in the future," said Gamal, in a written statement, Wednesday, May 24.

Gamal also expressed his hope that this strategic cooperation could be realized soon.

"The signing of this MoU is expected to create a comprehensive study so that sustainable cooperation in the plan to provide natural gas and supporting infrastructure to PT Matra Arona Banggai can be realized immediately," he explained.

President Director of PT Matra Arona Banggai, Nefo Ng also appreciated the cooperation plan that was established with Pertagas. Nefo said that his company has 18 shrimp ponds throughout Indonesia, of which 3 are located in Central Sulawesi. The three ponds require electricity supply of around a maximum of 10 Megawatts each.

"Currently our pond only operates with a power of about 2 Megawatts so that it is hoped that through cooperation with Pertagas, the distribution of gas supply for the needs of our shrimp pond power plant can be met," said Nefo.

Currently Pertagas is developing the use of natural gas sourced from the Central Sulawesi field. With this gas source, it is hoped that the gas supply for PT Matra Arona Banggai's needs of a minimum of 1.5 MMSCFD can be met.

This collaboration is expected to be a tangible manifestation of synergy and collaboration in supporting energy equality in the Central Sulawesi region and its surroundings. In addition, the use of natural gas as clean energy is one of the energy transition efforts to support the Indonesian government's program, namely the achievement of Net Zero Emission in 2060.
