JAKARTA PT Bank Sinarmas Tbk. reported that the company had obtained a principle permit from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) related to the plan to separate the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) into a Sharia Commercial Bank.
Bank Sinarmas Director Soejanto Soetjijo said the provisions for this regulation had been pocketed since the beginning of the year.
"We got the principle permit in February," he said when met in Jakarta on Saturday, May 20.
According to Soejanto, his party is now waiting for further concessions from the authorities to be fully operational.
"Now we are still waiting for a business permit from the OJK, but this has been processed," he said.
Soejanto added that the company's sharia BUS will not use Sinarmas but will embed its own identity as a selling brand to the public.
"The result of the spin off is PT Bank Nano Syariah. Currently, I am still serving as a director at Bank Sinarmas. After the spin off, I will fully become a director in this sharia," he said.
"What is clear is that this sharia bank already has its own assets and all the provisions we have followed, both in terms of infrastructure and human resources," he concluded.
