JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) said that the global manufacturing industry is increasingly oriented towards sustainable practice.

Some export destination countries are known to have required product and company requirements, ranging from eco labels, recycled material content, free of certain chemicals, the value of carbon emissions of a product and process, fulfillment of other international green standards, and the use of digital technology.

APP Jakarta Polytechnic, which is one of the campuses of the Ministry of Industry, has collaborated with Southeast Asia Work Integrated Learning (SEAWIL) with Polytechnic Seberang Perai (Malaysia), Kinabalu City Polytechnic (Malaysia) and LP3I Medan Polytechnic (Indonesia).

One of the focuses of this program is to open students' insights into the latest industrial developments, including the green industry.

"The series of programs includes visits to logistics and port industries in each area where universities are located. APP Jakarta Polytechnic conducts industrial visits to PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) located in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta," said Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry Masrokhan in a written statement, Wednesday, May 17.

The visit to Pelindo was made to find out and discuss with the management of the Indonesian port regarding the extent to which technology and green energy had been implemented in Indonesia.

Students who took part in the visit received material about Green Port as an effort to get to PT Pelindo (Persero) net zero emissions.

After the presentation of the material, discussions were held on challenges, opportunities, and plans to develop green technology, as well as their impacts socially and economically.

The SEAWIL program integrates learning activities with Industrial activities through Project Based Learning.

This program provides opportunities for students to interact and cooperate intensively with students from other countries.

The program provides knowledge about the application of green energy that can have a positive impact on companies both economically, environmentally and socially.

In addition, students can dig deeper into the challenges and obstacles faced by the company, as well as plans that will be carried out in the next 10 years.

For your information, in Indonesia, the green industry policy has been established through Law Number 3 of 2014 concerning Industry.
