GARUT PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) has made a big contribution to preserving the environment and social sustainability of the community. One of these concrete actions was presented at PGE Area Kamojang.
This geothermal generating area in Kamojang has become the oldest area that Pertamina has operated since 1978. This Kamojang area is one of 14 generating areas owned by PGE.

Eko explained that PGE has a total installed capacity in the Kamojang area of 235 megawatts (MW). From this capacity, the Kamojang area is capable of supplying electricity to 260 thousand houses.
"Currently we are continuing to develop to optimize the existing potential," he said.
General Manager of PGE Area Kamojang, Rahmad Harahap, explained that on an operational area of up to 1061 hectares, there is a Javan eagle conservation area (Nisaetus Bartelsi). This conservation area is a form of PGE's commitment to preserving biodiversity. This endemic Indonesian species is a bird categorized as a protected animal because its population is on the verge of extinction.

In addition to the conservation of the Javan eagle, Rahmad explained, PGE also contributes to the introduction of digitalization to improve the economy and to realize modern and technology literate communities in the Ring 1 Operation area through the Kamojang Green Living Ecosystem (Kang Elie) program. This program is implemented in Ibun District, Bandung Regency and Samang District, Garut Regency. In this area there are 4,746 residents who have enjoyed the results of digitalization development and the application of clean energy as a form of implementation of PGE social responsibility.
"Our main goal is to equalize technology, including through the Ibun Mall program, Signal Kita, and the Digital Ranger Apps application which aims to empower communities, including local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Through these various programs, PG's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) commitment can be directly felt in supporting environmental and circular sustainability. This program has assistance from a number of parties to ensure this program runs optimally," said Rahmad.
