JAKARTA - Erick Thohir again shows his commitment to continue to encourage MSMEs globally. The Ministry of SOEs initiated the BUMN SME's Hub House at the Waterfront Labuan Bajo. As part of the side event of the ASEAN Summit 2023, as many as 50 MSMEs participated in the MSME Exhibition, the majority of which were fostered by BUMN houses and a number of local MSMEs.

Thanks to Erick Thohir through the assistance of the BUMN House, these three MSMEs became a highlight during the MSME Exhibition for the BUMN SME's Hub House. First, MSMEs Padu Padun Weaving & Weaving Ina Sabu are weaving crafts with natural dyes. These handicrafts made from NTT Sumba weaving are made models of various contemporary clothes such as bomber jackets, dress, etc.

The Second UMKM D' Etnick Istana Mutiara Lombok is an accessories craft made of pearl. This product managed to steal the attention of visitors, especially women, because it was unique and was made directly by the talented hands of Lombok native craftsmen. The beauty of Mutiara Mandalika, Ameera, and Trawangan made of silver made D Etnik penetrate the global market.

The third 'China Rasa Indonesia' MSMEs are in demand by visitors because they serve unique Indonesian traditional foods. These MSMEs sell Indonesia's typical beef rendang mainstay products, balipos with typical Minang meat, typical Palu fried onions and also other Indonesian foods.

"I hope that through participating in this event, we can introduce our products to a wider market, namely the International market. Delegations from ASEAN had purchased our woven fabric products for 2 million rupiah per ppc," said Ina, owner of the Ina Sabu Unified & Weaving MSMEs, in a statement, Thursday, May 11.

Erick revealed that the BUMN SME's Hub House aims to promote and help MSMEs to increase competitiveness as well as open global market access so that they can encourage Indonesian MSMEs worldwide.

"We must encourage these MSMEs to go global, one of which is an exhibition involving visitors from abroad. We need to realize that MSMEs are the backbone of the Indonesian economy which opens many job opportunities. They can make the nation proud with global products," said Erick.

Overall, there are 50 MSMEs that participated in the BUMN SME's Hub Home Exhibition. These MSMEs consist of 15 Indonesian food and beverage MSMEs, 25 fashion and ethnic handicraft MSMEs, and 10 local Labuan Bajo MSMEs.

The SME's HUB event lasted 5 days, where the first 2 days, 9 - 10 May, were devoted to delegates from ASEAN countries and the day after that, namely on 11-13 May the community was allowed to enliven the event. The wider community can enjoy Art Performance, Culinary, DJ Performance, sustainability training (environmental conservation) as well as various performances of traditional and contemporary art during the event.
