JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) recorded a potential transaction value of US$1.93 million or around Rp29.45 billion at the Indonesia Mini Expo (IME) exhibition which took place on March 15-17, 2023 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Lagos Hendro Jonathan said the potential for the transaction was seen through an inquiry form, exploring hybrid business deals, and discussion activities of Indonesian and Nigerian entrepreneurs.

"Furthermore, ITPC Lagos will follow up on this activity through an online meeting with prospective suppliers and post several e-Inquirys on the Inaexport website. In addition, there is also a plan to visit prospective Nigerian buyers to Indonesia which we direct to be able to participate in Trade Expo Indonesia," Hendro said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 28.

The largest demand is in the form of hotel equipment products worth US$1 million.

In addition, there is also a demand for CPO and derivative products, body care products, spa products, batik, safety shoes, chemicals, and sugar fireworks. The total transaction is still growing.

The IME exhibition was held by the Ministry of Trade through ITPC Lagos, Nigeria and the Indonesian Embassy Abuja.

This exhibition is a single exhibition featuring Indonesian products and services by inviting more than 500 Nigerian businessmen from various states.

Indonesian Ambassador to Abuja Nigeria Usra Hendra Harahap said the exhibition was attended by 250 Nigerian businessmen and recorded as many as 67 requests for inquiry received by the Indonesian Embassy and ITPC.

This exhibition aims to build business relations with Nigerian entrepreneurs to become importers, distributors, and subdistributors of Indonesian products and services.

In addition, the exhibition is expected to increase the demand for Indonesian product inquiry, to the promotion of Indonesian culture and coffee.

IME displays product exhibitions, business consulting clinics, exploring business matching, tourism, and scholarships for Nigerian students.

The Indonesian companies that participate directly include PT Dexa Medica which displays pharmaceutical products; Wings Group Nigeria which displays detergent products; PT Kalbe International Plc with food and beverage products; and PT Otsuka Indah Permai which displays beverage products.

There are also companies that attend online and entrust their products to be displayed with a total of 103 companies.
