TKDN Above 40 Percent, Ministry Of Industry Appreciates Panasonic Exports Of First AC To Vietnam

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) appreciates PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia (PT PMI) which has been able to penetrate foreign markets by starting AC's first export to Vietnam.

"We express our appreciation to PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia for supporting the government's efforts to increase export activities of electronic industrial products by continuing to innovate and increase production lines at the international level," said the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industry (Dirjen ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry Taufiek Bawazier in a written statement, quoted on Tuesday, March 21.

Throughout 2022, the realization of investment in the industrial sector has reached IDR 1,207 trillion. A total of 54.2 percent of the investment realization is foreign investment or PMA.

This data shows the increasing confidence of domestic and foreign investors in government policies. The additional investment is able to encourage the absorption of around 1.3 million workers.

Taufiek said that his party also gave appreciation to PT PMI for its support for the import substitution program.

He also advised PT PMI to be able to produce AC components whose producers do not yet exist in Indonesia, as well as increase the production capacity of these components to meet domestic needs, so that they do not depend too much on imported components.

As a form of import substitution, 40 AC PT PMI products have recorded seven categories of Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of up to 40.49 percent, plus the Company Benefit Weight (BMP) has reached a value of more than 50 percent.

"The Ministry of Industry appreciates the participation of PT PMI in increasing the competitiveness and productivity of the national industry according to the program to Increase the Use of Domestic Products (P3DN)," he said.

Meanwhile, President Heating & Ventilation AC Company Panasonic Corporation Masaharu Michiura said the AC product was produced by the AC PT PMI business unit which began operating in 1973.

"Our AC unit is the most complete AC manufacturing in Indonesia with a TKDN value of more than 40 percent and has used R32 environmentally friendly referrants, and brought in the latest technology Panasonic nanoe which is very beneficial for health," he said.

Initially, the Panasonic Corporation produced air conditioning in Malaysia to be imported into Vietnam. Its production transfer to Indonesia aims to expand the AC business in Indonesia, and will then actively try to continue to improve it.

The AC business unit is the only AC factory in Indonesia with full manufacturing capability from raw materials to finished products.

The AC products produced include AC Split type Inverters and Non-Inverters with a capacity of 0.5 PK to 2.5 PK with a total production capacity of 600 thousand sets per year.

On this occasion, the Hi-Tech Mold & Dies Center facility was also inaugurated, whose development began to be initiated in 2016 and began to be processed in early 2020.

The project is a form of international cooperation financed by grants from the Japanese Government through the Ministry of Industry to improve industrial human resources in the field of mold & dies towards the hi-tech level.

The facility is targeted to be able to train and provide competency certificates at medium and hi-tech levels to 2,000 industrial workers over the next three years.

The training program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, the Indonesia Mold & Die Industry Association (IMDIA), the Matsushita Gobel Foundation, and the support of experts from Japan.
