BPKP Audit Results On Used KRL Imports, Minister Of Industry: Wait 10 More Days

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is still waiting for the results of the audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) regarding PT INKA's ability, especially in producing trains.

This is related to the polemic regarding the plan to import the used electric rail train or KRL planned by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) to be carried out, this year.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the decision to wait for the audit was in accordance with the results of his meeting with SOE Minister Erick Thohir and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, some time ago.

According to Agus, the government is currently prioritizing domestic products, namely by retrofitting or adding the latest technology to the Jabodetabek KRL trainset, of which 10 trainsets will retire this year and 19 retire next year.

"The government has decided to retrofit, we will see from the results of the audit how much we can retrofit. We will retrofit as much as possible," he told reporters at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday, March 9.

Agus assessed that the KRL Trainset so that it can be used domestically must at least contain 40 percent of the domestic component level (TKDN). Therefore, his party encourages that domestic product spending be maximized.

Furthermore, he said, domestic spending will also absorb more labor. "If there is no import, we will retrofit the workforce in Indonesia," he said.

Later, continued Agus, his party will still wait for the results of the audit by BPKP which is targeted to be released in the next 10 days. The results of the audit will determine whether Indonesia needs to import a former KRL from Japan or not.

"God willing, within 10 days it will be completed and can be seen. The audit of INKA's capabilities, be it finance, technology capabilities, also an audit of the fleet. From all the thorough audits, we have just decided how much we (import) have," he concluded.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment or Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan supported the plan to import a used electric rail train or KRL planned by PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI). According to Luhut, the plan must be carried out immediately.

"We do have to do it in the near future (a former KRL import from Japan), the 10 carriages," said Luhut when met by the media crew some time ago.

Luhut said that the import plan would be discussed again on Monday, March 6. He appealed to no more errors in the planning, so he had to import used trains.

"In the past, I had imported used goods, now I import used goods? So, we said, why not make plans so as not to import. It may be a little more expensive, but that, right, the money is circulating domestically," he said.

Because the time problem is not possible, said Luhut, the government will ask the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to conduct an audit.

"So, the goods are not seen through the third hand, so that the price is correct. Do not let price deviations occur," he added.
