Met Japanese Minister Of Finance, Sri Mulyani Received Support For Energy Transition Efforts

JAKARTA – The Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance) Sri Mulyani is said to have met Japanese Finance Minister Shun'ichi Suzuki in a bilateral agenda meeting in Tokyo earlier this week. These two state treasuries were noted to have discussed a number of important agendas, especially in the economic field.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that the Government of Japan expressed support for the Indonesian Government's efforts to preserve nature in harmony with economic activities.

"Minister of Finance Suzuki also supports Indonesia's Energy Transition Program towards renewable and net zero carbon which has been declared by President Jokowi at the G20 summit," she said in a written message quoted on Tuesday, 14 February.

Not only that, but Indonesia's important role in the international arena also has the support of the Land of the Rising Sun.

“The Japanese government congratulates Indonesia on the success of the G20 Presidency despite facing difficult challenges. Japan believes that Indonesia will also succeed in leading ASEAN in 2023," she said.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani revealed that another agenda discussed was the joint chairmanship (co-chair) of Indonesia and Japan in ASEAN plus 3, including a new financing initiative within the framework of the Chiang Mai Initiative, especially in anticipating natural disasters and pandemic crises.

"Japan also supports Indonesia's initiative to strengthen and inclusive AMRO," she said.

Apart from meeting Minister of Finance Suzuki, the Indonesian delegation also had the opportunity to meet Mitsubishi Corp Chairman of the Board Takehiko Kakiuchi.

"I convey the development of the Indonesian economy, the challenges of global dynamics, the direction and various fiscal policy incentives to support economic recovery, downstream minerals, the development of the electricity-based automotive industry, and the development of the Nusantara's National Capital. Several questions from Keidanren members (Japanese employers' association) regarding the energy transition to renewables and the development of IKN and the development of digital-based industries," she explained.

While in Tokyo, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani received full support from the Indonesian Embassy led by Ambassador Heri Akhmadi.

"My agenda is dense, important and interesting, so keep up the good work," she said while informing that the temperature in the Japanese capital is now around 6-8 degrees Celsius.
