JAKARTA - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said Yogyakarta was successful in hosting the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) which was held from February 3 to 5, 2023.

"20 years ago (ATF) was also in Yogyakarta and this year it was held at the same place and was successful," said Sandiaga after the 2023 ATF delegation dinner at the Yogyakarta Palace, quoted from Antara, Monday, February 6.

Sandiaga assessed that the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and the people of Yogyakarta had carried out their role as good hosts, even leaving a deep impression on the delegates.

"We express a lot of appreciation to the Sultan and the people of Yogyakarta who have been excellent hosts, hosts who were very receptive and left a very deep impression on (ASEAN) ministers," he said.

According to Sandiaga, a number of tourism ministers from ASEAN countries said they were impressed by the dinner and the Beksan Ajisaka dance at the Yogyakarta Palace.

"Earlier the ministers also said that they would never forget this night and this left a very memorable experience for the ministers," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, thanked the central government for choosing Yogyakarta again as the host for the ATF.

The Sultan believes that ATF 2023 will be a new episode of warmer, more beneficial and dignified tourism cooperation for ASEAN countries and their partners.

"I am grateful for the central government's trust in this matter the Ministry of Tourism for holding ATF 2023 in Yogyakarta. Hopefully this event will give us more enthusiasm in the field of tourism and progress," said Ngarsa Dalem, greeting Sultan HB X.

The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2023 which takes place in Yogyakarta, 3-5 February 2023 is the largest tourism activity in the ASEAN region which is routinely held every year.

The presence of ATF is a space for cooperation between ASEAN member countries to promote the ASEAN region as a tourist destination.

ATF 2023 agrees on various collaborative efforts of ASEAN countries to strengthen the implementation of the tourism strategy in the region (ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan/ATSP).
