Achieved 39 Percent, KAI Has Selled 916,000 Long Distance Train Tickets For The Christmas And New Year Period

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has sold 916,000 long-distance train tickets for the Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 (Nataru) periods. This figure is equivalent to 39 percent of the company's target of 2.4 million.

KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo said overall, KAI provided 5.6 million train passenger seats during the Christmas and New Year periods this time. This figure includes 2.4 million seats for long-distance train passengers.

"To date, 916,000 long-distance train tickets have been sold or 39 percent of the total tickets," said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo after the 2022 Christmas and New Year's Transport Force Ceremonys at Gambir Station, Jakarta, Thursday, December 22.

Furthermore, Didiek asked passengers not to worry because there are still many long-distance train tickets available.

"There are still quite a lot of train tickets available," he said.

On this occasion, Didiek also appealed to people who will travel long distances by using rail transportation modes to plan trips from long distances.

"Through thorough preparation, we hope that the train transportation mode during the Nataru Transportation period can run safely, smoothly, and under control," said Didiek.

Didiek said, with the start of Nataru's transportation, KAI was ready to serve passengers optimally. KAI's readiness includes human resources, facilities, infrastructure, and other things related to overall service.

KAI has prepared 45 extra lane inspection officers, 324 extra crossing gate guard officers, and 62 vulnerable area officers. A total of 431 officers were alerted along the Java and Sumatra trains to monitor if there was a road range or extraordinary incident (PLH) that could hinder train travel.

As a security measure for train service users, said Didiek, KAI has prepared a total of 3,943 security officers from internal and external elements of the company. The details are 1,338 Special Police for Railways (Polsuska), 2,202 Security personnel, and 403 additional personnel from the TNI-Polri.

Thousands of security officers will carry out security on trains, stations, and carry out mobile patrols along train lanes prone to crime. In addition, security officers will also continue to enforce health protocols for all customers at the station and during the trip.

Didiek emphasized that the safety and security of trains are his main priority. KAI continues to periodically check disaster-prone points.

"Hopefully the Nataru 2022-2023 transportation period can run well," he said.
