JAKARTA - The Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, stated that the government plans to provide direct cash assistance (BLT) to workers and workers in the cigarette (tobacco) industry in 2023.

According to her, this step is a follow-up to the government's decision to increase tobacco product excise (CHT) starting next year with an average increase of 10 percent.

The Minister of Finance explained that the total funds prepared by the state reached more than IDR 3 trillion for BLT cigarette workers, including assistance for the industry.

This figure is included in 50 percent of the 2023 tobacco excise revenue-sharing distribution plan (DBH) of IDR 6.5 trillion.

"(The government will) provide cash assistance to the workers (next year)", she said while giving a presentation to the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission XI at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta on Monday, December 12.

The Minister of Finance himself did not provide further information on when the BLT distribution would be carried out.

However, she ensured that this allocation had been included in the 2023 State Budget which had been approved by the government together with the House of Representatives some time ago.

Meanwhile, the CHT revenue target targeted by the government next year will reach IDR 232.58 trillion.

This figure is higher than this year's target of IDR 216.82 trillion.
