SKK Migas Exploration Exploration 1,050 New Sumur, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources: If Not Fast, Just Concern!

BALI - Head of the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) Dwi Soetjipto revealed that his party is targeting oil and gas resources in 1,050 new exploration sources spread across a number of regions in the country. "Next year, we have agreed with contractors of 1,050 wells. So it is quite progressive in terms of activity," he said on the sidelines of the 3rd International Convention on Indonesian Upstream Oil and Gas (IOG) 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali, Thursday 24 November. Furthermore, Dwi explained that the exploration well point from year to year has increased. In 2020 it can be seen from drilling activities reaching 240 well points. Then, in 2021 there are 480 and based on the 2022 outlook it reaches 800 points. The drilling of more than a thousand well points in 2023 is expected to support the oil production target of 1 million barrels per day (BOPD) and gas production of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) in 2030. Dwi said that his party also projects oil drilling production this year to reach 630 thousand barrels per day. Dwi said, as much as 50,000 barrels of oil were not realized due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. "We arranged that before the pandemic and hit from the pandemic could not be denied until now its position for oil lags 50,000. So I would like to convey the outlook of 630 thousand bph, 50,000 behind the original LTP target. Can we pursue one thing that becomes challenging," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, revealed that there are several oil and gas sources that are still sleeping and have not been explored. One of them is in the Natuna area which has not been utilized for 45 years. According to Tutuka, this potential must be quickly utilized. Considering that within the next 10-20 years there will be a change in the energy trend to renewable energy. "If we don't take it quickly, just forget it. Because within the next 10-20 years it will be renewable energy, we are racing against time," said Tutuka.
