North Maluku Exports Perdana Chocolate Batangan To England

JAKARTA - North Maluku Province managed to export 22.4 kg of chocolate bar first with the aim of England through Ternate Sultan Baabullah Airport.

"The initial export of chocolate bars has proven that North Maluku agricultural commodities have great potential to compete in the global market and Quarantine is issued Phytosanitary Certificate after conducting an examination as a health guarantee so that this product can be accepted in the destination country," said Head of the Ternate Class II Agricultural Quarantine Center, Yusup Patiroy in Ternate, quoted from Antara, Friday, November 18.

The processed chocolate exported this Friday is an agricultural commodity from the Sula Islands, North Maluku, exported by PT Inti Alam Enterprisis for Glasgow, England.

The release of the first export was carried out in the cargo environment of Sultan Babullah Ternate Airport and was attended by leaders of export acceleration supporting agencies, such as agricultural quarantine, customs, Bank Indonesia, KUPP Sultan Baabullah, Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo), and GM PT Garuda Indonesia Ternate Branch.

The chocolate bars exported to the UK consist of various flavors, such as chocolate, coffee,mede, and walnuts. This flavor variant also describes the wealth of North Maluku's natural resources.

cocoa beans which are the raw material for making chocolate bars are one of North Maluku's leading commodities. Based on IQFast data from the Ternate Class II Agricultural Quarantine Center, in the January October 2022 period, there was a domestic volume of 342,000 kilograms of cocoa out. These cocoa beans are sent to various destinations, such as Surabaya, Jakarta, and Jayapura.

Yusup hopes that the delivery of chocolate exports will be the beginning of the revival of the glory of North Maluku's products which will certainly improve the wheels of the community's economy.
