JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf), Sandiaga Uno, agreed to collaborate with Malaysia to strengthen cooperation in the tourism and creative economy sectors. The goal, of course, is to generate the economy, open up business opportunities, and provide the widest possible employment opportunities.

In a meeting with Senator from Malaysia, Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian in Bali, on Monday, November 14, Sandiaga revealed that Indonesia and Malaysia have formed the Malaysia-Indonesia Business Council (MIBC).

The presence of the council which aims to improve business relations between Indonesia and Malaysia is expected to increase the various business sectors in the two countries, especially in the tourism and creative economy sectors.

Sandiaga assessed that Malaysia is one of the countries that contribute to a lot of tourists visiting Indonesia.

"Earlier, there were several initiatives that would be developed starting from (exporting) creative economy products, such as music and weaving, as well as increasing the number of flights both to Jakarta and also to several tourist destinations, including Bali", said Sandiaga in a written statement, Tuesday, November 15.

He said that with several agreed-upon initiatives, it is hoped that it will increase the number of tourist arrivals from Malaysia to Indonesia, as well as increase the creative economy sector in Indonesia.

Furthermore, said Sandiaga, many Malaysian tourists visit Indonesia for culinary tours.

"This shows that the Malaysian market really appreciates our culinary products", he said.

Meanwhile, Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian revealed, through the agreed-upon initiative, it is hoped that it will have a positive impact on the Indonesian and Malaysian economies.

"So, with these new initiatives, it can bring benefits to both countries", he said.
