JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani is known to have fulfilled the invitation to celebrate Malaysia's 65th birthday (HUT) at the Jakarta embassy in the middle of this week. On that occasion, the Minister of Finance said that as one of the closest relatives in Southeast Asia, Indonesia's diplomatic relations with Malaysia began in 1957.

"In these diverse dynamics and challenges, Indonesia and Malaysia's bilateral relations remain strong and supported by a commitment to increase cooperation in various fields," he said through his personal Instagram account @smindrawati on Friday, September 2.

The Minister of Finance noted that Malaysia is Indonesia's second-largest trading partner and number eight investor in the 2021 period. It was also stated that Indonesia and Malaysia are actively cooperating under the IndonesianMalaysiaThailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) mechanism and also Brunei DarussalamIndonesiaMalaysiaPhilippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP EAGA) through the MoU Air and Sea Linkages.

"The commitment to strengthen bilateral relations is also realized through state visits that have been carried out by their respective Heads of State," he said

Furthermore, as one of the founders of ASEAN and also a country that has so many similarities, both in history, culture, and religion, the Government of Indonesia hopes that the cooperation that has been built so far can continue to be maintained and strengthened.

"Our sincere hope and prayers, may Malaysia and the Malaysian people always be peaceful and prosperous, healthy, safe and peaceful," he said.
