Urban 20 Communique Finish, Advanced Discussion To G20 Head Of State Level

JAKARTA The joint agreement between the city government of the G20 countries has resulted in a 20 Urban Communike to be considered by the G20 Chair and the G20 member of the State Chief in the context of a more concrete follow-up.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto as the representative of the Government of Indonesia, which holds the G20 Presidency this year, symbolically accepted the Urban Compunike from DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil as Chair and Co-Chair Urban 20.

On behalf of Mr. President Joko Widodo, I as Sherpa receive the Urban 20 Communike. In the next one or two months there will also be many meetings, both from Engagement Group and Working Group. There are 10 (ten) Engagement Groups and there are 12 Working Groups in the G20 implementation," he said in an official statement quoted on Thursday, September 1.

According to Airlangga, the Urban 20 omniuke produces three things that are of primary concern, namely investment in residential health, sustainable energy transition, and education and training. These three things will be part of being prepared for the Summit Meeting in November.

"Once again I emphasize that in the G20 Indonesia, we concentrate on the fields of health, digital transformation, energy transition, and handling food security because we know that in the future, more people will live in urban areas. This is a challenge and hope," he said.

Airlangga added, Urban U20 Communike calls for action in three main fields, namely related to health and residential investments as a basis for economic and social recovery for pseudo.

Then, it helps the development of a sustainable energy transition as well as equal access to sustainable mobility, and provides education and training on the future of employment opportunities to gain fair access to job opportunities.

One very good thing to do is that at Urban 20 there is a consensus. There is no pending issue. I appreciate the Governor of DKI Jakarta and the Governor of West Java as Chair and Co-Chair in Urban 20," he said.

To note, Engagement Group Urban 20 is a forum that brings together cities from G20 member countries under a joint framework to discuss economic, climate and global development issues.

The Urban 20 formed a joint stance and issued recommendations in the form of Urban 20 Communike for consideration by the G20 Chair and the G20 Head of State members.
