JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Province Bank Indonesia Representative Office introduced an electronic payment program, namely Healthy, Innovative, and Safe to Use "Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard" (SIAP QRIS) at Sarinah mall, in order to expand digital trade in traditional markets and shopping centers.

Based on information from the DKI Jakarta Province Representative Office of Bank Indonesia received in Jakarta, this program will be held from 15-20 August 2022, which coincides with the commemoration of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This program is the result of a collaboration between the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and Bank Indonesia through the declaration of a QRIS READY market and shopping center to support the national economic recovery, as well as a series of 2022 National QRIS Week (PQN)," said Head of BI DKI Jakarta Representative Onny Widjanarko, quoted from Between.

Currently, the SIAP QRIS program in DKI Jakarta has been carried out in 12 traditional markets and three shopping centers, including Sarinah Mall, Central Jakarta.

Governor of Bank Indonesia Perry Warjiyo, who gave a speech at the inauguration of this program, conveyed that there were three important messages in the activity, namely, first, to synergize in developing the economy by using domestic products specifically for MSME products to support economic recovery.

Second, encourage consumption or shopping for Indonesian MSME products to support the Proudly Made in Indonesia National Movement (Gernas BBI) which aims to make Indonesian people love and use locally made products to encourage economic growth.

"Third, using QRIS in shopping because QRIS is Healthy, Innovative, Safe, Use. Through the QRIS SIAP program campaign we continue to encourage digital payment transaction services in traditional markets and in shopping centers in Indonesia, so that Indonesia's already high economic growth will stronger and healthier," Perry said.

In line with this, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria conveyed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government played an active role in supporting Bank Indonesia's SIAP QRIS initiative for payment transactions using QRIS in a number of markets, grocery stores spread to remote villages and housing.

"Equality in using QRIS can also be enjoyed by all citizens of Jakarta. Through the use of QRIS, it is hoped that it will discipline payment methods and accelerate the transformation of the digital economy in Indonesia," said Deputy Governor Riza.

Through the use of QRIS, Riza hopes to discipline payment methods and accelerate the transformation of the digital economy in Indonesia.

He also hopes that the collaboration that has been established between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia as well as other stakeholders will be stronger. Especially in the context of recovery after the pandemic in all sectors of life, especially the economic sector.

"The main source of growth is household consumption in line with increasing community mobility, which is supported by increasingly controlled cases of COVID-19 and acceleration of vaccination in Jakarta. These conditions will gradually drive people's economic activity and increase domestic demand," said Riza.

At the launch of the introduction of the SIAP Mall program, members of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, and Bank and Non-Bank Payment Service Providers were also present.

QRIS is claimed to be a "game changer" in digital payments in Indonesia that allows MSMEs to enter Indonesia's digital ecosystem by using non-cash transactions in various instruments and sources of funds.

Through this program, it is hoped that all parties will continue to collaborate in increasing digital transaction payments so that they can provide benefits for the entire community, especially for SMEs in Indonesia.
