JAKARTA - The Confederation of Indonesian Workers' Unions (KSPI) has rejected the 2022 DKI provincial minimum wage (UMP) to be lowered from IDR 4.6 million to IDR 4.5 million. The labor unions are ready to take massive action if the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) does not appeal the PTUN's decision to lower the 2022 UMP.

"KSPI asks Governor Anies to challenge the PTUN decision. If Governor Anies does not appeal, the workers will take massive action," said KSPI President Said Iqbal, Wednesday, July 13.

Furthermore, Iqbal said that if the PTUN's decision regarding the 2022 UMP is still carried out, then every government decision can be continued in the PTUN. This creates uncertainty for workers in meeting the necessities of life.

Therefore, Iqbal said that the authority of the DKI government in this case, should not be lost to the temporary interests of businessmen who fought against the Governor's decision regarding the 2022 UMP.

"KSPI urges the Governor of DKI not to implement the PTUN decision and continue to apply the UMP which has been set to increase by 5.1 percent," he said.

Iqbal said there should not be a decrease in wages in the middle of the road. Because, with the PTUN's decision to lower the DKI Jakarta UMP 2022, it will create chaos at the implementation level in the field.

"Furthermore, there will be conflicts between workers and employers," he said.

Moreover, said Iqbal, it has been seven months that workers have received wages of IDR 4.641.854. Workers will certainly not accept that their wages are suddenly reduced by around IDR 100.000 in August.

"Labourers will find it increasingly difficult because their wages are lowered. In addition, around the world, there is no decrease in wages in the middle of the road," he said.

"If the PTUN wants to decide, it should be decided in January 2022, before the 2022 UMP is enforced," he said.
