JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo), Hariyadi Sukamdani, assessed that the implementation of booster vaccination as a condition for entering malls will not affect the number of visitors.

"There is no influence. People who come to the mall are actually more concerned with health problems and maybe the majority of them have been (vaccinated) with boosters", Hariyadi said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 12.

According to Hariyadi, Apindo basically supports the policy that is considered good.

However, he said, the government must pay attention to the provision of booster vaccines and information about vaccination locations.

Haryadi also said it was time to intensify booster vaccinations at this time.

"(The booster program) should be continuous, so indeed this COVID cannot be underestimated", he said.

It is known, that the government plans to apply booster vaccination as a mandatory requirement for malls and traveling using public transportation.

This is so that the achievement of vaccination continues to rise which aims for public safety.

"The President's move to make a booster a requirement, I think it makes sense. The public must be forced for the common good and safety. Otherwise, I think the booster vaccine coverage will still be low", said Member of Indonesian House of Representatives Commission IX, Rahmad Handoyo.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized that the government would speed up the injection of booster vaccines because the daily cases of COVID-19 increased.

He estimates the peak of active cases will take place in the next few weeks.

"The booster vaccine must still be accelerated, considering that daily cases and active cases have started to increase. It is estimated that the peak will be in the next few weeks. We continue to urge the public to discipline themselves in carrying out health protocols", said Airlangga.
