Garuda Indonesia Will Fly 7,000 Migrant Workers To South Korea This Year

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia is targeting to fly as many as 7,000 migrant workers to Seoul, South Korea (South Korea) in 2022.

Today, Garuda has flown at least 187 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Seoul, South Korea, by operating a fleet of Airbus A330-300 with flight number GA 878 which departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 23:10 local time.

The plane will arrive at Incheon International Airport tomorrow at 08.30 local time.

"This special flight for PMI is part of Garuda's strategic partnership as the official BP2MI airline in order to support the success of BP2MI's programs and activities, especially the government to government program to South Korea through the provision of safe and comfortable international air travel facilities for BP2MI employees, including mobility. PMI is heading to the destination country for deployment," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra in a written statement, Monday, June 6.

Irfan hopes that PMI shipments to Korea will continue to increase in line with the easing of international travel requirements in a number of countries, including South Korea which officially opened international arrivals some time ago.

This flight is an implementation of the signing of a memorandum of understanding on corporate privileges Garuda Indonesia with BP2MI in March.

The agreement focuses on several service aspects, namely the provision of special prices for the Seoul route, flexibility services for ticket changes, as well as supporting flight services by the Garuda Indonesia Group.

"We continue to develop other potential collaborations that can support BP2MI's ongoing program for the success of PMIs in destination countries, including through the provision of cargo and charter flight services to ensure that the mandate from the government, especially regarding PMI delivery activities, can run smoothly," concluded Irfan. .
